  • Share a space of ritual
    and meaningful connection

  • Tap into cyclical living

  • Quietly embrace the unknown

A 3 month intimate online circle

to explore the winter themes of
darkness, rupture, dreamtime

Welcome to an informal, smoky tearoom to share experiences of rupture, darkness and dreaming.

We gather periodically to sip tea, reflect on our wintertime, and track themes through storytelling. We explore how baba yaga’s qualities of destruction, generosity and revelation emerge in our day-to-day.

This circle offers invitations to deepen in our connection to the emptiness. We will share impulses for rituals, weekly musings, and meet through an online call twice a month.

This is for you
if you want to :

  • have a haven of connection and inspiration to keep coming back to

  • grow your creative process through hive consciousness (circle, dreamtime)

  • deeply connect to cyclical living and winter rhythms

  • commune with the land through ritual

  • make space for what you consider incomprehensible, unwelcome, other

  • work with a wild and formidable archetype

  • Network in a way that is spacious but meaningful

Our guide

“In Russian, baba yaga’s name is not capitalized. Indeed, it is not a name at all, but a description - “old lady yaga” or perhaps “scary old woman. (…)

The lack of capitalization in every published folktale also hints at baba yaga’s status as a type rather than an individual (…).  (It) could suggest that it was once a euphemism for another name or term, too holy or frightening to be spoken, and therefore now long forgotten. “

Sibelan Forrester

the yaga is a type, a place. not a person.

she’s a child kidnapper, a cannibal, a bestower of magical gifts and advice. she whispers the whereabouts of magical princesses or tries her best to cheat, kill and destroy.

the stakes are high when we step into her house, passing poles with human skulls on our way in.

the yaga is formidable and wildly unpredictable - sometimes she’s also stupid, simpering, weak. she defies understanding, like many of the oldest beings that accompany humankind.

under these paradoxes, however, her appearance tends to repeat the same function : to cross paths with her means to remove, one way or another, the obstacles in the way to happy marriages and stable families.

she invites us into a kaleidoscopic reality, where children are taken so we can fight to take them back, where all courage comes to nothing if we don’t get magical aid, and where life repeats everything 3 times, until we are finally ready to rise to the challenge.

yaga is a messenger and initiator.
she pushes us out of the comfort zone to claim the divine union we long for within ourselves.

Our tearoom

Sharing the descent into winter’s deep contemplation

Yaga’s stories often involve a ball of thread - and the invitation to let it roll, and follow wherever it may go.

Our time together will follow that wisdom to navigate the themes of darkness. We come together to sip tea and share, gleaning our gifts through conversations and spontaneity. We share truth and notice signs.

Rather than growing and learning, we shift into the inner spiral of witnessing, feeling, deepening.

We return to a state of simplicity, and stay curious in the face of the unknown.

We will connect to the rhythm of the land in winter by performing simple intuitive rituals, in our own time, to further develop our relationship and web of support with our environment.

I cannot wait to journey with you.

Sessions with Joy have been honestly life changing.

Robert

You have shown me the path into my inner self that I have never felt before. I feel a much better person in so many ways. Thank you.

Graeme

Since working with Joy I seem to have found a quicker step, a more relaxed mind and a heart-beat better attuned to this wonderful journey called ‘life’.  Is it magic ?  - I certainly feel a better person.  Thank you.

Matt

if you believe in self growth and investing in yourself, i recommend you check out Joy. Go in with an open mind and an open heart, with the willingness to learn and explore yourself. Be ready to feel uncomfortable too, because you will.

Ask her questions, ask yourself questions and begin to put the puzzle together. Although, i feel it's a puzzle that is ever changing and never meant to be solved.

Enjoy your journey my friend.

Nick
Joy is

Your host

Joy Thunder is a poet immersed in modern-day Mystery Schools.

She is passionate about spaces that cultivate deep intimacy on all levels - body, mind, soul.

She has spent 10 years traveling the world, and is devoted to the temple arts : the intersection of ritual, art, community and sacred sexuality. She is involved in ISTA and the Temple Trainings of Samohraki and Highden.

She is fascinated with the Trickster archetype, and presents this offering as a first template/temple to commune with one of these powerful beings. They are natural pioneers, and masters of navigating through chaos. They hold burningly relevant medicine for us all in these pivotal times.
